Note for myself for next year - start carrots in April. I managed to let 2 plantings dry out too much so germination was low (yeah I should have gone out and replanted when it was raining heaps). I did the same thing last year too 🙄🤦‍♀️ bok choi, Caulis, broccoli, swisss chard, tomatoes and peas are in 🙌

Another day another bucketload of Hawaiian guavas 😋 the kids don’t love them and I am not keeping up. I’ve made jam and I’ll make some cordial/syrup and jelly cups with this lot. Any other ideas for extending the harvest?

We don’t normally harvest sweet potatoes until close to Anzac Day but this one wanted to be picked 🍠 I’ll cure this one along with a few others that we’re doing the same (3kgs worth) and harvest the rest in a couple of weeks. Then it’s onion time 🧅 💃

First time growing jicama and I wasn’t expecting

First time growing jicama and I wasn’t expecting it to take over the world 🙈 how pretty are the flowers... poisonous but pretty. Next year I’ll definitely need a higher trellis.

I am not feeling the greatest 🤧 but garlic plan

I am not feeling the greatest 🤧 but garlic planting day waits for no one 🧄 60 cloves in this year, 10 less than last year but we had so many that I sold heaps in our seed shop, gave heaps away and I still have a dozen smaller bulbs that we are eating - which I’ll peel, blend and freeze before they sprout (we put them in zip lock bags flatten so we can easily break off what we need). I didn’t bother soaking in seaweed solution this year, the ground is still really wet from all the rain so I am hoping they sprout before they rot 🤞we’ve been prepping this bed for months by burying fish guts and prawn shells. I’ve added compost, blood and bone, lime (acidic), gypsum (clay) and a full bucket of worm castings 🪱 I did a video last year on our garlic crop from planting to harvest which is up on YouTube if you want to check it out. We’re exclusively planting glenlarge this year.
