What to Plant in the Veggie Patch in September

What to plant in september kitchen garden I love Spring time, it's my favourite and most productive time of year in the garden. Everything just grows, it's not too hot, the bugs haven't arrived in hoards and there is more to choose from when it comes to planning out your vegetable patch. If you haven't already got a start on your spring time plantings then here is my list of things to plant for the kitchen garden or veggie patch in September. My tips are for Sub-Tropical Climates in the Southern Hemisphere (Australian East Coast from Coffs Harbour up to Rockhampton).
  • Capsicum
  • Cucumber
  • Eggplant
  • French Beans
  • Lettuce
  • Pumpkin
  • Radish
  • Spring Onion
  • Tomato
  • Zucchini
  • Beetroot
  • Broccoli (warm weather varieties)
  • Cabbage
  • Carrot
  • Celery
  • Onions
  • Parsnip
  • Potato
  • Silver beet
  • Squash
  • Sweet Corn
There are loads of choices, and if space is of the essence the most important question to ask yourself is what do you eat? No point planting eggplant if you can't stand it. Have a look at what you buy from the grocery store each week and if you buy loads of capsicums plant them! What are you planting this Spring? Spring Sub-tropical Growers Guide
